Its extremely safe since it is both DOT and Snell approved. Snell being the higher standard and also conforming to their newest standards now too. Also, it is white which, aside from hi-viz yellow, is the most visible color for a helmet. (I considered the hi-viz made by scorpion but just could not bring myself to looking like a traffic cone) I also added some black racing stripes that are checkered and reflective so its not just a plain white helmet. Its my third HJC and I'll continue to buy them till they are proven inferior to the more expensive brands. Super comfortable with minimal wind noise. I liked the fog-free face shield but didn't like wearing sunglasses all the time so I switched it for a dark tinted shield. Super easy to switch! All I can say is this helmet is the best value on market right now. With a pin lock anti-fog shield, the helmet never fogs and it's so light that sometimes I forget to take off the helmet when I'm off the bike. Could use a better air flow vent on the top and better seal on the visor (sometimes, the visor pops open when you check your blind spot) but everything else is better than I would expect for $120 helmet. I've been using HJC helmets since I learned to ride in 2005, and I love them. With the Snell endorsement, they are as safe as you can get for this price. My only criticism is that they are heavier than most full face helmets.
